IB ACIO Exam complete detailed Syllabus, Exam Pattern 2024

IB ACIO Exam complete detailed Syllabus, Exam Pattern 2024

As we are all aware of a recent vacancy detail published my ministry of home affairs for the exam of IB ACIO that stands for assistant central intelligence officer grade-II. Many a time’s candidates get confused about the criteria’s, syllabus or any other information regarding the post. In this article we are going to cover each and every dimension of the notifications and leave no doubt untouched.

Whole article in divided in 5 parts

  1. Information in depth about the job or the post that you are applying for
  2. Syllabus and in depth analysis of each round of examination
  3. Post examination scenario
  4. Do’s and Don’t
  5. Some myth breaker

1) Information about nature of the post in simple words what will be your exact job?

Too often in original notification we see that only pay scale and other ministerial technical things are written this leave aspirant in confusion and sometimes even after getting selected they finds the job not suitable for them at all. Focus of this segment of the article is to completely make you aware about your job and all.

As an assistant central intelligence officer your prime duty will be to gather the intelligence from the ground zero. Yes it will be a field job that why you can see the word (non-ministerial) is written in the notification itself. You are liable to be posted anywhere throughout the country. It is also important to note that you will be solely responsible to the central government only and no interface or we can say role will be played by the state government in this part. While working on ground zero as I told above you can be posted anywhere in the country and it is very important to note that you have no right to say no. To keep you motivated the government is providing you a very handsome amount of salary with the structure as per the notification is like this

Basic Pay – Rs. 44,900/-

DA (@46% of basic pay as on date) – Rs. 20,654/-

SSA (20% of basic pay) – Rs. 8,980/-

HRA (ranging from 9% to 27% of basic pay, depending upon the classification of city of posting

Transport Allowance – Higher TPTA cities (Rs. 3600/- + DA on 3600)

Government contribution towards NPS (@14%) – Rs. 6,286/-

  • There is one more allowance that the candidate will get depending upon the nature of posting like if you get posted in hard working area than you will get some additional benefits these types of details are only put forwarded after distribution of posting among candidates.
  • It is also important to note that after selection candidates will be on two months training process.

After going through the complete details of the examination now it the part where candidates are most interested that is about the complete information of the examination like its tiers syllabus, nature of examination etc. In the below segment of article we are going to jump to that only.

2) Examination all information (pattern, levels, types of question, exam city, vacancy, miscellaneous)

Interestingly the whole process of the examination will be conducted in three phases that is

Tier I

Let’s try to understand them one by one.

Tier I

As we are all aware of it, generally phase 1st examinations are the mass elimination exams there are generally conducted to eliminate all the non serious candidates and hence only sincere one will be proceed further. Nature of the examination is multiple choice questions will negative marking and other important thing to note is that it will be a computer mode test not a pen paper test. So candidates are requested to prepare on computer based model only.

There will be 100 multiple choice question each of one marks and 0.25 negative marking divided in five groups that will be current affairs, general studies, reasoning, general aptitude and English and the overall time to solve the paper will be 1 hour. It is important to note for the candidate that the above table of detailed syllabus is deeply researched and based on previous year question paper and pattern it followed.

Some important points for tier I

In the notification itself two points had been made very clear that is

First only 10X candidates of the vacancies will be selected in Tier I round that is only 10 times the multiple of the vacancies will be selected for the tier II examination this can be better understood from the table below

Second this is to note is that there is lower threshold that is candidates required to score at least minimum of that percentage to clear the examination that is given in below table.

These are the minimum marks that a candidate is required to score to get selected to the next round.

Important note

Interestingly if we observe the above part we can clearly see that a candidate required fast and accurate calculation as well as knowledge of different dimensions at the same time.

Sections               Factor that will make your selection

General Aptitude – Speed and accuracy with precision. Formulas should be on tips with good speed this can only be achieved through practice, practice and practice.

Reasoning-  Same criteria of above will be followed both sections are meant to check how to take pressure and here the pressure will be of time.

General Studies- To analyze your conceptual clarity about various topics that revolves around the country. Time will not be an issue but recalling the facts is the key.

Current affairs- This remains a key part in every government exam and primarily to check how much you are aware of country situations again time will be not an issue recalling the fact is the key.

English –  As sometimes in the job you can make detailed report and you can’t be grammatically wrong. Need to have very good knowledge of grammar and its application part.

Also a very important note that a candidate need to seek is that the option that you have attempted but put it under “mark for review” box will not be considered for evaluation. Hence in the practice sessions you have to allocate your time accordingly.

After clearing the Tier I round now let’s jump to Tier II

Tier II

Tier II is basically a selection round and from here things will go hard. If you observe carefully Tier II is a descriptive that means it will be a subjective paper and candidate will have to go through two sections in the paper first will be essay writing for 30 marks and second will be English comprehensive of precise writing for 20 marks and the time allotted will be 1 hours. Let’s compile the whole situation in table given below

In both of writing part candidates need to take care of following things

  • Time is not the issue here that means the exam is taken to test your very precise writing skills and to seek your observation skills.
  • In exam you will be exposed to various situation for which you have to either critically examine the situation or analyze the situation in both of the case you can’t afford to write normal or what we say a layman answer, your writing need to be very accurate.
  • You simply can’t make a grammatically error. It will be the end of the chapter and hence it is advice to take your time and write with complete accuracy.
  • Tier I exam was a computer based examination and hence the result will be announced very quickly what we meant to say is there will be very less time to prepare for tier II and hence you cannot waste your time in between tier I and tier II examination.

Like the tier I examination there is also criteria’s for selection for this examination like only 5x candidates will be selected for next round of the total vacancy that means only 5 times the multiple of the vacancy, this will be the number that is going to be selected for the very next round. This can be better understood using table given below.

And also in the notification itself it is given that there is minimum marks that candidates need to score for the next round that means that these will be the minimum marks each and every candidate need to ensure to proceed further in the examination or rest even if there will be seats left candidate will not be taken for next round.

That minimum marks stands at 33% of the total marks of the exam. Interestingly it is same for all the candidates and not like that of tier I round. That minimum percentage of marks can be understood from the table given below.

After clearing the round the candidates will proceed to the final phase of the examination that is tier III of the examination it will be an interview round let’s talk about in next section.

Tier III

It is the last round of the entire examination process and it will be an interview also known as personality based round. It is important to note that many a times candidate misinterpret this exam and ends up preparing it in wrong way. This exam is not to check how much knowledge you have or how fast you can do calculation but rather this exam is but you as a personality. They want to seek whether you are right person for this job or whether this job is made for you.

Some of the points that you need to take care in interview are as follows

  • First do not bluff. Many a times it is founded that candidate in pursuit of impressing the panel start bluffing or telling lies in resume about themselves. Try to avoid it as it created a bad impression.
  • Dress formal for the occasion don’t overdo it. Purpose it to that you look descent not to put an unnecessary burden on yourself about our self consciousness.
  • Be formal through the interview and don’t be frank to the panelist as panelist will seek you to make you feel comfortable.
  • Engaging in dialog with panel is OK but avoids any kind of debates. This will trigger their ego and ultimately you will be in trouble.
  • Don’t waste times of the panel if you are unaware of something simply say sorry and process further.
  • Have a decent smile and be proud of who you are.

As in the above segment we have gone through the exam paper detail let’s now jump to next segment of the article that is post examination scenario.

3) Post examinations scenario

It is important to note the even after you have cleared your examination you to go through a detailed scrutiny of the documents like your character certificate, identity verification cards etc. this can be understood due to the sensitive nature of the post.

After passing the scrutiny candidates will be taken to two months training phase where rigorous training like of working in pressure, keeping yourself clam and other skills required for the job will be engulfed in you.

Important note

Things to be learnt from above segment is

First you need to check whether all of your documents are correct and in safe custody. Avoid any last minute hurry and this can lead to a misadventure. Remember IB in its notification itself had said that they reserve all the rights to disbarred candidate from any stage of process.

Second candidate need to reconcile whether they are even fit for this job. Indeed government job is a fascination in India but this is not like an ordinary office government job. You are going to have field posting in remote areas; you will be away from your family. Are you mentally prepared for it?

Do’s

  • Understand the exam system: You should become familiar with the exam structure, syllabus and scoring system of the specific official exam you are preparing for.

5) Some myths about the exam that needed to be broken

Only toppers from elementary class succeed: It is not only those who are always first in their class who succeed in official exams. Hard work, consistency and strategic approach play an important role.

Coaching is a must: While training institutes can be useful, they are not necessary for success. Many candidates crack the exam through self-study using appropriate materials and techniques.

Only engineers/graduates win: Government exams are not only for engineers or graduates. Many exams have eligibility criteria that can be fulfilled by candidates from different educational backgrounds.

Quantity Over Quality: The myth that hours of studying automatically lead to success. Good practice, understanding of concepts and consistent research are more important than hours of study.

English medium students have an advantage: Official exams are conducted in English and regional languages. Knowledge of English is an advantage, but many successful applicants come from a regional background.

You Can’t Crack It in the First Attempt: Many candidates do succeed on the first attempt. With proper preparation, dedication and understanding of the exam process, clearing in the first attempt is very achievable.

Age Restriction is a Big Barrier: Although some tests have an age restriction, it is not a universal barrier. Many tests have age breaks in certain categories, allowing candidates of different ages to participate.

One effort is enough: While hard work is important, an intelligent and strategic approach is equally important. Understanding testing protocols, practicing mock tests, and focusing on weak areas is important.

Doing study only full time work: Many successful candidates have been able to solve exams while working or pursuing other commitments, it involves effective time management and a focused curriculum.

Government jobs are less stressful: Although government jobs often bring job security, they can be demanding and stressful depending on roles and responsibilities.

Conclusion

As we are going towards end off our this segment we have deeply studied about the orientation of the exams and also we have gained a deep inside knowledge of the examination itself either be about post or rounds of examination, also in indirect sense we had talked about strategies in the above segment of the article too.

Aspirants need to understand that one purpose of this article was also to put you in right track. There are millions of student pursuing for government exams studying day and night pursing for their dreams and end up going nowhere. This is all because of faulty approach towards the examination.

In this article that’s why we had provided a special emphasis on do’s and don’ts for the examination which you need to follow very strictly. Thing is very one is going to study very hard the winner will be who had study hard and with right approach.

The importance of myth barker comes here very handy and you paste in on your wall and try to motivate yourself using that in case you feel any low.
