Apart from all the essential components that are essential for survival, the tree is one such component without which no human existence is possible on this earth. Trees, besides giving oxygens also serve as the habitat of the fauna and flora. In other words, trees are extremely essential for the global environment and due to this, they need utmost care and protection. Trees provide a shed to an exhausted traveller and soothe his fatigue by giving mild air. Contrary to this, cruel people use trees for their wood in order to make furniture and houses. This essay details various reasons why trees are regarded as our best friends.

Trees bear immense significance whether it is the delicate willow, the upright pine or the mighty oak. There are various advantages that are provided by trees. The water cycle is regulated by the trees. In this process, the rainwater that falls to the ground is absorbed by the trees and released into the atmosphere as transpiration. Every single tree releases about 250-400 gallons of water per day into the air. In addition, trees also ensure that the water cycle is maintained with balance. To create awareness about the benefits of planting trees, every year on 21st March Tree plantation day is celebrated. School students are also encouraged to plant trees and water them daily in their school. Mainly this activity comes as a part of the socially useful productive work, in schools.
Trees also provide employment to people from botanical research to fruit harvest. Botanical Garden in India, a myriad zone of different plants and trees also offer jobs to many people. Owing to the interdisciplinary nature, studying botany offers various opportunities and thus students prefer having botany as their subject at their undergraduate level. Reforestation and forest conservation cover up the majority of the jobs, thus there is an immense need to save these trees from deforestation. Trees serve as a vital habitat for wildlife. It houses mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. Tigers, lions, frogs, butterflies, beetles, moths, rhinoceros, snakes and many others, reside under the shed of trees. Sadly, the increasing rate of deforestation due to urbanisation will lead to the extinction of about 28,000 different species.
Trees play a prominent role in improving the quality of soil due to the presence of carbon filtering properties. Various toxic substances from the soil are removed from the soil with the help of trees for which the other plants are allowed to flourish and grow. Furthermore, trees also provide minerals to the soil by making the soil more nutritious. For instance, the Philippines is one such country which focuses on the plantation of mangrove trees. Trees help in combatting noise pollution in which the foliage of the trees diminishes the level of sound and fights climatic change by lowering the effect of greenhouse gases.

To conclude it can be said that trees are indeed our friends as they provide shelter, air, food, oxygen, and employment and balances the water cycle level. In addition, it also helps in dealing with noise pollution and fighting against climatic change. It acts like a giant filter by removing greenhouse gases and also acts as healing or a stress reliever. Meditating under the trees aids in relieving stress thereby helping to heal, the mind, body and soul.
