Eligibility criterion for the post of ALP

RRB has clearly mentioned all the important details in their latest notification.

1)  The age of the applicants must be within 18 to 30 to be eligible for this post as on 01.07.2024.

2) The candidates must be physically fit in all respects.

3) There are some vision standards set by RRB for this post which are

i) Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test (must not accept+2D)

ii). Near Vision: Sn: 0.6,0.6 without glasses and

iii) Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, Night Vision, Mesopic Vision, etc.

The required educational qualifications for these posts are Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI or 3 years diploma or degree in engineering in the specific trades from recognized institutions.

Exam pattern for this examination

In this section the exam pattern of the recruitment of assistant loco pilot is discussed in details. RRB has provided all the details in their official website. According to the official notification there will four stages in the recruitment process. First stage CBT, Second stage CBT, Computer based aptitude test and document verification.

First stage CBT (preliminary)

  • There will be 75 questions each for 1 mark for a total of 75 marks.
  • The time allotted for test will be 60 minutes.
  • The questions will be of MCQ nature.
  • For each wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.
  • There will be 4 sections in the exam mathematics, General intelligence and reasoning, General science& engineering and general awareness on current affairs.

Second stage CBT (Mains)

Those who will qualify in the CBT 1 will be eligible to appear in CBT 2. The details of this exam is given below.

  • The total number of questions for the examination is 175 and the total duration of this exam is 2 hour 30 minutes.
  • There will be two parts in this examination. Part A and Part B. Part B is qualifying in nature which means the candidates have to pass in this part of the examination.
  • In part A there will be 100 questions and the time limit for this part of the test is 90 minutes. There will be four sections in this part namely mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, basic science and engineering and general awareness on current affairs.
  • In part B there will be 75 questions and the time limit for this part of the test will be 60 minutes. The questions in this part will test the professional or trade knowledge of the candidates.
  • The marks scored in Part A alone shall be used for short listing of candidates for further stages of recruitment process subject to the condition that the candidate is securing qualifying mark in Part B.
