This dam counts as one of the main sources of water. Within the area of the dam, there is a well-known Defence Academy. In addition, the Sinhagad Fort along with the Varasgaon and the Panshet dam serves water for the purpose of irrigation.

In addition, the city also thrives in international companies such as Force Motors, Mercedes Benz, General Motors, and Volkswagen. Even the Indian Army’s first headquarter is located here.
