Eligibility criterion for Constable of RPF/ RPSF

In the official notice released by Railway Recruitment Board the eligibility criterion are clearly mentioned for the post of Sub inspector and Constable in RPF/RAPF.

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India
  • For the post of Sub Inspector the age of the candidate must be in between 20 to 25.
  • The minimum education qualification required for the post of Sub Inspector is Graduation from a recognized university.
  • For the post of Constable the age of the candidate must be in between 18 to 25.
  • The candidate must be 10th pass or have equivalent degree form a recognized board for the post of constable.

Exam Pattern for Sub inspector and Constable of RPF/RPSF

The exam pattern for the selection in RPF/RPSF is divided in three steps. First there is a computer based test, second there will be a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and third and final step is document verification. Candidates who successfully clear all three stages will get inducted in the RPF or RAPF.

The pattern for the computer based test is same for the both posts. In the computer based exam there will be 120 questions for 120 marks. The time allotted for the exam will be 90 minutes. There will be a penalty of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer. There will be three sections in the computer based exam General Awareness, Arithmetic and General Intelligence and Reasoning.

In general awareness section there will be 50 questions for 50 marks. In Arithmetic section there will be 35 questions for 35 marks and in General Intelligence and Reasoning section there will be 35 questions for 35 marks.

The PET and PMT will be qualifying in nature.

Syllabus for Sub inspector and Constable of RPF/RPSF

The syllabus for the online computer based test for the post of Sub inspector and constable of RPF/RPSF is given in the official PDF. The questions will be based on 10th pass level for the post of constable and graduate level for the post of sub inspector.

The detailed syllabus of the exam is given below:

General Awareness: Questions in this section will be designed fortesting the general awareness of the candidate around him/her. It is also to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation. The test will also include questions relating to Indian History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science, etc.

Arithmetic: Questions in section will be based on Number systems, whole numbers, decimal and fractions and relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and proportion etc.

General Intelligence & reasoning: In this section questions will be based on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning, etc.
