FM Nirmala Sitharaman announces to recruit over 38,000 Teachers in Eklavya Model Schools
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced The Union Budget for the financial year 2023-2024 on 1st February 2023. Central Government would recruit 38,800 teachers and support staff for 740 Eklavya schools serving 3.5 lakh tribal students in the next 3 years. “An amount of Rs 15,000 crore will be made available under the Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes to implement the mission over the next 3 years.
Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) was started in 1997-98. EMRS provide quality education to Scheduled Tribe children in remote areas, so that they can avail opportunities for higher and vocational education courses and get employment in various fields. Teachers will be recruited for Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS). EMRS Schools focus not only on academic learning but also on the holistic development of students. Each EMRS school has a capacity of 480 students, for students from class VI to XII.
